Jamila is In-House Counsel at Elemental Excelerator and works closely with all teams to ensure that the program runs optimally and ethically.
Prior to Elemental Excelerator
Jamila practiced civil and commercial litigation, real estate, bankruptcy, condominium association and homeowner’s association law at Porter McGuire Kiakona & Chow in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition, Jamila has legislative experience through her work with the House Majority Staff Office at the Hawaii State Capitol as well as the legislative attorney for Representative Roy Takumi.
Jamila has a JD from the William S. Richardson School of Law with an additional certificate in environmental law and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Minor in Political Science from The George Washington University.
Prior to law school, Jamila was an advocate with the Domestic Violence Action Center, assisting survivors of domestic violence with various social and legal issues. Upon her graduation from law school, she joined the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children in Hawaii, where her work included writing health law policy and facilitating a pro bono legal clinic at Kokua Kalihi Valley Community Health Center. Jamila has continued these personal and professional pursuits working with the community through serving on the Young Lawyers’ Division Board of the Hawaii State Bar Association for 5 years, ending her tenure as its President in 2018 and as the Chair of the Board for The Pōpolo Project.
