Coming out of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, a model for states pursuing an aggressive transition to renewable energy, the U.S. Department of Energy set aside funding for innovation. This became the seed funding for Elemental Excelerator.

DOE sponsors more research in the physical sciences that any other U.S. federal agency.

The Elemental team facilitates conversations between our Corporate Partners and relevant applicants to help accelerate commercial deployments. Our Corporate Partners invite applicants to collaborate on a project proposal and Elemental incentivizes action with $50,000 prize money (non-dilutive) to the most compelling project proposal to come from the Deal Day meetings.
